About Joseph A. Huse

Joseph A. Huse is an attorney licensed in Massachusetts, advising on complex cross-border matters involving corporate and business law, infrastructure and energy projects, and international dispute resolution.

Mr. Huse spent over twenty years as a partner at Freshfields, where he was a member of the firm's Projects and International Arbitration Groups. He served as MENA Regional Managing Partner and was responsible for opening and running the firm's offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Manama. He retired from Freshfields in 2012.

Prior to Freshfields, he was a partner in the Paris office of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison (operating as Cabinet Dominique Fargue).

Following his retirement from Freshfields, Mr. Huse founded Newton Legal in Bahrain. Under his leadership, the firm became the leading domestic law firm in the Kingdom, winning Bahrain Corporate & Finance Domestic Law Firm of the Year at the 2025 Chambers Middle East Awards.

Mr. Huse is recognized by Chambers & Partners as an Eminent Practitioner in Corporate & Finance.

Mr. Huse is the author of Understanding and Negotiating EPC and Turnkey Contracts, originally published by Sweet & Maxwell. He has served as arbitrator in international proceedings and was the first Registrar of the DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Centre.

Mr. Huse is also a principal of Belhara Estate S.A., one of the largest wineries in Argentina.
